1989 documented theca with relic of Blessed Scubilion Rousseau, the Catechist of Slaves

Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca decorated by images of cherubim around the perimeter and housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of the Blessed Jean-Bernard Rousseau. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Ossibus // B. Scubilionis Johannis Bernardi Rousseau (of the bone of the Blessed "Scubilion" Jean-Bernard Rousseau). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The reliquary is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General in 1989.

Blessed Jean-Bernard Rousseau, FSC (†1867) was a French Catholic member of the De La Salle Brothers. He assumed the religious name Scubilion upon his profession and was dubbed the "Catechist of Slaves" due to his extensive decades-spanning work on Réunion Island. In April 1833 he accepted an invitation to go to Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean to teach and evangelize. Between 1833 and 1843, he taught to poor children on the island. At this time became a vocal advocate of slaves and fought against the mistreatment and abuse that female slaves suffered. He was beatified in 1989 during the visit of Pope John Paul II to the island. He is considered a holy patron of Catechist teachers, and his Feast Day is commemorated on April 13.
