1995 Documented theca with relic of St. Pedro Almató, Thomasian Martyr of Vietnam

Round yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Pedro Almató.  The relic is affixed to a blue silk ground decorated by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Petri Almató / P.M.O.P. (Saint Pedro Almato, Martyr of the Dominican Order). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Dominican Order. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed in 1995 by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the Causes of Canonization.

Saint Pedro Almato (†1861) was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain on All Saints' Day, 1830. He went to Manila, studied in the University of Santo Tomás, and was ordained in 1853. Learning of the persecutions in Vietnam, he obtained permission from his superiors to go on a mission in the said country. In October 1861, after several years of missionary work, Almato was captured and beheaded on his birthday. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 19, 1988.
