The icon of Our Lady of Kyiv-Caves monastery depicts the Theotokos enthroned with a child in her lap flanked by two angels. Her hands rest on the shoulders of Saints Antoniy and Feodosiy, who kneel before her. The icon is venerated as "Not-made-by-hands" and is said to have appeared by itself in the great Dormition Church of the monastery if the Caves in the year of 1085. The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra – also known as the Kyivan Caves Monastery – is the oldest monastic complex of Rus. It was founded around 1050 by a divinely-inspired monk named Anthony who sought peace and prayer.
