The icon is executed on the gold ground depicting the Savior, blessing with one hand and holding a pendant with an image of a cross in the other, soaring above the empty Tomb with two angels below him. The inscription in Old Slavonic is quoted from the Paschal Troparion - an Orthodox hymn sung during the Easter Orthodox Service: "When you descended to death, O Life Immortal, You slew Hades with the splendor of Your God-Head!"
