Blessed Mercè Prat i Prat (†1936) was a devoted Spanish Catholic nun of the Teresian Sisters, known for her faith and martyrdom during the Spanish Civil War. A gifted painter and seamstress, Mercè joined the Society of Saint Teresa of Jesus in 1904, taking the name Maria Mercèdes of the Sacred Heart. Orphaned as a teenager, she cared for her three younger siblings. She dedicated herself to education and prayer, serving in Barcelona, Tortosa, and Madrid. In July 1936, amid anti-Catholic persecution, she was arrested for being a nun. On July 24, she was executed by firing squad, dying with prayers on her lips. Pope John Paul II beatified her on April 29, 1990, recognizing her martyrdom "in odium fidei."

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Blessed Mercè Prat i Prat. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as B. Mercedes Prat (Blessed Mercedes Prat). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (known as the Carmelites). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed on April 29, 1990 (the very day of her beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.
