Saint Christina of Bolsena, (†295) also known as Christina of Tyre, or in the Eastern Orthodox Church as Christina the Great Martyr is venerated as a Christian martyr. According to tradition, Saint Christina was visited by an angel, who instructed her in the Christian religion. The angel then called her a bride of Christ and told her about her future suffering. Christina then smashed all the idols in her room and threw the pieces out the window. On visiting his daughter, Christina's father, Urbanus, asked her where all the idols had disappeared. Christina was silent, but upon summoning the two servants, Urbanus learned the truth from them. Urbanus had his daughter tortured because of her faith, but God thwarted his efforts. After her father's death, his successor Dion continued to torture her. Christina is eventually beheaded. Toffia in the Province of Rieti displays her relics in a transparent urn. Palermo, of which Christina is one of four patron saints, also claims to hold her relics. The Eastern tradition connects Saint Christina with Tyre, Lebanon.
Oval glass-fronted silvered brass reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of a bone) relic Saint Christina of Bolsena. The relic is affixed to a yellow silk ground surrounded by silver wire and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Christina V.M. (Saint Christina, Virgin & Martyr). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Father Guido Maria Conforti (†1931), Archbishop of Parma, Italy (1907-1931), who himself was canonized in 2011. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the Archbishop of Parma in 1915.
