Large gilt bronze reliquary monstrance in Neo-Gothic Style decorated with polychrome enamel housing inside of the central cavity covered with domed glass, a first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Procopius of Scythopolis. A massive relic consisting of an intact vertebrae bone is affixed to a red silk background and identified on a manuscript cedula label as S. Procope A.M. (Saint Procopius of Alexandria, Martyr). On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax with a clear imprint of a coat of arms of Bishop Pierre-Alfred Grimardias (†1896), Bishop of Cahors, France (1866–1896).

Reliquary monstrance with large relics of Saint Martyr Cyriacus, Bishop of Jerusalem

Opulent 17-th century reliquary in a form of a chest of gilt and painted wood with frontal openings and internal vitrine of glass housing very large and historically significant ex ossibus (bone) relics of Saint Cyriacus, Martyr & Bishop of Jerusalem. The relics are identified on a manuscript paper cedula label as S. Corpus S. Ciriaci Epi. et Martire (from the holy body of Saint Cyriac, Bishop and Martyr). The reliquary is recertified in the 19th century with red ribbon secured by seals of red Spanish wax with imprints of a coat of arms of Cardinal Lorenzo Litta  (†), the Vicar General of Rome (1818-1820).

1867 French silver reliquary monstrance with relics of the True Cross of Jesus Christ

Spectacular large cruciform reliquary monstrance made of lacquered wood decorated with a silver figure of crucified Christ, silver finials, and plaques depicting Skull over Crossed Bones and the Lamb of God. A removable ornate theca housing particles from the wood from the True Cross of Jesus Christ is placed in the oval cavity at the base of the monstrance. The relics are displayed in a cruciform shape surrounded by paperolle ornamentation and are identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Crusis D.N.J.C. (Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ). On its back, the theca is secured by an undisturbed seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of Father Dominique Lacaes, the Abbot of the Trappist monastery of Sainte-Marie du Mont in Godewaersvelde, France (1847–1883). On the back, the base of the monstrance has a hinged-door compartment that reveals the original matching authentics document issued and signed by Abbot Lacaes in 1867.

18th-century angel-form reliquary made of painted and gilded wood with front glass panel housing significant first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of two Unmercenary healers: Saints Cosmas and Damian. The relics are affixed to a red silk background and identified on paper cedulae labels as S. Cosmae Mart. / S Damiani Mart. (Saint Cosmas Martyr / Saint Damian Martyr). On the back, the reliquary is protected by a crisscrossed silk ribbon held in place by four seals of red Spanish wax with clear imprints of a coat of arms of an unidentified Catholic Bishop. The reliquary has damage on the left side where the arm is partially missing.

Documented arm reliquary with important relics of Saint Abundius, Miracleworker, Deacon & Martyr

Reliquary in the form of a realistically rendered arm with blessing fingers made of silvered and gilt papier-maché containing, in the mid-section cavity, a removable oval glass-fronted silvered brass theca with two historically significant first-class relics of an early Christian martyr Saint Abundius of Rome, identified on a manuscript cedula label as of the dens  (tooth) and digiti iunctura (part of a finger).  On the back, the theca is secured by an impression in red Spanish wax of a seal of fr. Giuseppe Mancini (†1855), Archbishop of Siena (1824-1855).The reliquary is accompanied by the original certification document issued and hand-signed in 1829 by Fr. Giuseppe Mancini.

Spectacular 18th-century Baroque silver reliquary decorated with silver filigree wire ornamentation and housing under a plate of thick rock crystal significant ex Titulus Crucis  (from the Inscription board on the True Cross) relic of Christ's Passion.  The substantial relic measuring approximately 7 x 5 mm is affixed to a silk background decorated with paperolle and identified on a fancy-cut manuscript cedula as De Tabula Tituli Crucis DN [JC[ (From the Titulus tablet of the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ). On the back, over another plate of rock crystal, the relic is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Giuseppe Mancini (†1855), Archbishop of Siena (1824-1855).  The seal is a later re-certification in place of a lost original 18th-century authentics.

An opulent and massive solid silver-faced Baroque reliquary housing substantial and historically-important ex ossibus (of the bone) pre-canonization relics of four Catholic Martyr Saints of China and Vietnam: St. Louis Gabriel Taurin Dufresse, St. François-Régis Clet, St. John of Triora, and St. Ignatius Delgado, all Beautified by Pope Leo XIII on May 27, 1900. The reliquary was sealed around the time of the Beatification by the Society of Foreign Missions of Paris and distributed by the Vatican's Papal office of the Congregation for Saints’ Causes.  The relics are affixed to a background of red silk and surrounded by paperolle, silk thread, and imitation pearl decoration, identified on the typeset cedula labels as B. L. Gabr. Dufresse E. M. Sem. Miss. Ext. (the Blessed Louis Gabriel Dufresse Bishop & Martyr, Society of Foreign Missions) / B. Francisci Clet M. Cong. Miss. (the Blessed Francis Regis Clet, Martyr, Congregation of the Mission) / B. Ioan, a Triora M. Ord. Min. (the Blessed John da Triora, Martyr, Order of Friars Minor) / B. Ign. Delgado E. M. Ord. Praed. (the Blessed Ignacio Delgado, Bishop & Martyr, Dominican Order).  On the back, under a protective cap, the reliquary is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of the Postulator General of the Society of Foreign Missions of Paris (Société des Missions étrangères de Paris, short M.E.P.), a Roman Catholic missionary organization of secular priests and laypersons dedicated to missionary work in foreign lands. On the front, the crystal-fronted reliquary opening is surmounted by a coat of arms of Pope Leo XIII (p. 1878-1903) and decorated below with a shield engraved with Latin inscription: EX OSSIBVS / MARTYRVM LXXVII / SINEN. TVNQVINEN COCHINCHINEN / QVIBVS LEO PAPA XIII / ANNO IVBILAEI MCM / BEATORVM HONORES / DECREVIT. ("Of the Bones of 77 Martyrs of China and Cocochina (Vietnam), whom Pope Leo XIII declared as the Beatified in the jubilee year of 1900."). The reliquary comes in its original silk-lined fitted case embellished on the outer lid with a gilt coat of arms of Pope Leo XIII.

ca. 1600 life-size bust-form reliquary made of painted wood housing very large historically important first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Gelasius of Fossombrone. The relic is affixed inside of an oval glass-fronted opening and identified on paper cedula label in as S.Gelasi a. 4 Febrarii (Saint Gelasius venerated February 4). The saint's name is also inscribed on the base of the bust. The reliquary most likely came from the church in Fossombrone, Italy built around 1609 by Francesco Maria II della Rovere, the last Duke of Urbino.

Very large (3 cm or 1  1/4 inches long) first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic is affixed on a background richly decorated with gilt paper and silk flowers and identified in a fancy cut paper cedula label as Ex Oss S. Valentini Mart. (Of the bone of Saint Valentine, Martyr). On the back, the theca is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of Cardinal Bernardino (†1807), the Archbishop of Senigallia and an important official of the Vatican Curia.

Extremely rare documented reliquary theca with four relics of Saint Pope John Paul II

Extremely rare round gilt metal reliquary theca housing the first- and second-class pre-canonization relics of Saint Pope John Paul II. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a bi-color typeset cedula label as Ex Lapide et Arca Sepulcrali // Beati Joannis Pauli II Papae // ex Capillis ey ex Jndumentis. (of the sepulcher stone and casket, of the hair and clothing of the Blessed Pope John Paul II).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Postulator General of the Cause for Canonization of  Pope John Paul II. The relic comes in the original case of issue embellished with a coat of arms of Saint Pope John Paul II and is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued in 2011 and signed by Rev. Slawomir Oder, the Postulator General of the Cause for Canonization of  Pope John Paul II. We obtained this extremely rare item from someone who worked at the Vatican and received it directly from the Postulator General. This item is appropriate for public and private veneration.

1867 Documented Reliquary with facsimile Relics of the Holy Nails of Jesus Christ

Finely-cast bronze French Gothic style reliquary cabinet containing three facsimile third-class touch relics of the Holy Nails of Jesus Christ. The nails are certified by the individual seals of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of the Monastery of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem in Rome. The relics are identified in French on a fancy cedula label as Fac simile des Clous de la Vraie Croix (Facsimile of the Nails of the True Cross).

The reliquary cabinet contains the original matching authentics document stating the following:

We attest to each and every one reading the present document that the enclosed three iron nails fastened with red silk ribbons to the secure seals, were placed near the Sacred Nail, the very sacred relic with which Our Lord Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross, that We, the Cistercians preserved in the inner chapel of the urban Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, and the nails were made artistically to be elaborate so that it may seem very similar to the original. This document is issued in Rome in our Monastery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem on July 2, 1867.

The reliquary is suitable for private and public veneration.

Spectacular silver glass-fronted reliquary decorated with intricate filigree wire ornamentation and housing significant first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of four Franciscan Martyr Saints of China and Vietnam: Saint Gabriel Taurin Dufresse, Saint Ignatius Delgado y Cebrian,  Saint François-Régis Clet, and Saint John of Triora.  Substantial relics are affixed to the background of red silk surrounded by gilt wire and natural pearl ornamentation and identified on separate paper cedulae labels. On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Franciscan Order. The reliquary was most likely made shortly after the beatification of the Saints in 1900.

Finely cast bronze Neo-Gothic style chapel-shaped reliquary containing a significant first-class ex dentis (tooth) relic of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal. The relic is identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as Ste de Chantal and certified by a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of the coat of arms of Monsignor Henri-Victor Altmayer O.P. (†1930), Archbishop of Baghdad, Iraq. The relic comes with its original matching authentics document signed by Fr. Altmayer in 1903.

The reliquary frame contains an original matching authentics document stating the following:

We attest to each and every one reading the present document that the enclosed three iron nails fastened with red silk ribbons to the secure seals, were placed near the Sacred Nail, the very sacred relic with which Our Lord Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross, that We, the Cistercians preserved in the inner chapel of the urban Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, and the nails were made artistically to be elaborate so that it may seem very similar to the original. This document is issued in Rome in our Monastery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem on July 2, 1870.

In addition, the reliquary frame contains the following items:

  1. A cloth ribbon -  3rd class touch relic of the Column of Flagellation of Christ inscribed MISURA DELLA COLONNA DI CRISTO NRO SIGNORE ALLA QUALE FU FLAGELLATO (A Measure Of The Pillar Of Christ Our Lord At Which He Was Flagellated);
  2. A mother-of-pearl pilgrim's cross from the Holy Land;

Sebastiani Martir . On the back, the relic is certified by two perfectly preserved seals of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of Monsignor Carlo Oppizzioni, Cardinal-Priest of San Bernardo alle Terme (1804) and the Archbishop of Bologna (1802 - 1831). The reliquary is hallmarked with French silver marks of Paris and Aude (Southern France) dating to the first third of the 19th century.

ca. 1800 Spectacular Spanish silver reliquary of St. Narcissus (Narcís), Bishop Martyr of Girona & Miracleworker of the Flies

A spectacular gilt silver reliquary of high craftsmanship dating to the time of the Napoleonic wars (ca. 1800) and containing a significant first-class relic of St. Narcissus, Bishop and Martyr of Girona. The design of the reliquary strongly resembles the tomb of St. Narcissus in the Basilica of St. Felix in Girona. The bone relic is housed in a small glass-sided casket affixed in the center of the reliquary and surmounted by a Bishop's mitre and crossed Bishops staff and the palm branch indicating the Martyrdom. The reliquary is hallmarked with a stamp of Antonio Desoy from Genoa (Italy) active in Girona between 1795 and 1809. The base of the reliquary is decorated with a count's crown with the initials "CDP" and inscription "A LOS S res" (To the señores), indicating that the reliquary was made as a gift to the Count and Countess whose monogram appears on the reliquary. The reliquary was most likely produced at the time of the Battle of Girona (1808) during the the Napoleonic wars and had been a part of the famous collection of Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre, the founder of the Fashion House of Balenciaga in Spain.

Reliquary with a significant bone relic of Pope Saint Gregory VII

A documented reliquary with an important ex ossibus relic of Pope Saint Gregory VII, one of the greatest of the Roman pontiffs and one of the most remarkable men of all times. The ex ossibus (of the bone) first-class relic consisting of an intact right femur (thigh) bone resting on a red-colored velvet covered pillow decorated with gilt silver thread ribbons affixed with small nails to a rectangular burgundy-colored velvet covered wooden plank. The saint is identified on the relic itself in black ink as “S. Gregorius VII” and further on a typeset paper cedula label in French language as GREGOIRE VII. The relic is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of a French town of Saint-Martin du Tertre. A French-language handwritten certification document secured by the analogous seal and affixed to the bottom side of the plank attests to the authenticity of the relic and provides its provenance as follows:

“I, the undersigned, parish priest of Saint Joseph Church, attest ... of the diocese of Sens, attest to this holy relic of Our Father Gregory VII, who joined our Lord in the year of grace 1085. I attest to its authenticity and of having sealed it with Our seal, prepared at Saint Martin du Tertre on May 11, 1881. Jaubert “

The relic and the reliquary are in generally good condition showing signs of normal aging and some moth damage to the velvet covering the plank.

19th-century French large cruciform  reliquary monstrance made of  wood decorated with solid silver caps and center detail and housing a theca with particles from the wood from the True Cross of Jesus Christ. The substantial relics are displayed in a  crystal-fronted silver theca placed in the center of the reliquary. On its back, the theca is secured by an undisturbed seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic Cardinal. The base of the monstrance has a hallmarked solid-silver plaque with the following inscription in French:

"The oak from which this cross is made is contemporary with the birth of Christianity, it was found near Sombernon, a few years ago in a Roman aqueduct whose construction dates back to the conquest of Gaul, it owes its black color to its long stay underground. [dated] 1851."

Extremely rare ca. 1850 French glass-sided casket reliquary housing precious relics of Saint Martyrs: Ursula, Felicity of Rome, Fidelis of Sigmaringen, and French King Louis XVI. In the main compartment, relics of St. Felicity and St. Fidelis are centered around substantial double-relics of St. Ursula. Relics of French King Louis XVI are housed in a glass vile centered in the upper compartment. On the inside, the reliquary has a paper label with a manuscript text in French: "fait à Paris ce 30 Décembre d'annie 1816".  (Done in Paris this December 30, 1816). 

On the bottom panel, the reliquary is secured by two ribbons of red silk held by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a seal of Cardinal Jacques-Marie-Adrien-Césaire Mathieu (†1875), Archbishop of Besançon (1850-1875).

Reliquary Cabinet with Relics of Blessed Francesco Lippi & 3 Martyrs: St. Fausta of Cyzicus, St. Generosus of Tivoli & St. Deodatus of Sora

Ca. 1800’s small reliquary cabinet in Baroque style surmounted with gilded palm leaves and containing, behind the front glass panel, substantial first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of the Blessed Francesco Lippi, O.C.O. surrounded by three Christian Martyrs: St. Fausta of Cyzicus, St. Generosus of Tivoli, & St. Deodatus of Sora. The relics are affixed to a red silk background decorated with gilt silver wire ornamentation and silk flowers. They are identified in fancy manuscript cedulae labels and, again, on smaller labels affixed directly to the relics. On the back, the reliquary is secured by a red silk ribbon secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Antonio Martini (†1809), Archbishop of Florence (1781-1809).
