Russian Orthodox Gospels cover silver plaque with the Transfiguration of Christ

A Drobnitsa silver plaque with a depiction of the Transfiguration of Christ was used as a cover decoration on the Russian Orthodox Gospels. Saint-Petersburg town hallmark dated 1889 and a maker's mark in Cyrillic AИ for an unidentified silversmith.

Drobnitsa - in the Orthodox church jewelry, insert made for decorating the covers of the Gospels, mitras, panagias, or surfaces of ceremonial liturgical vestments.
