New Arrival
Reliquary theca with relic of St. Gregory Barbarigo

Oval glass-fronted brass pendant reliquary theca housing two second-class ex indumentis (of the clothes) pre-canonization relics of Saint Gregory Barbarigo. The relics are affixed to a gold silk ground  identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as B. Gr: Barb. (Blessed Gregory Barbarigo.). On the back, the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint with a coat of arms of Fr. Antonio Cantoni (†1781), Bishop of Faenza, Italy (1742–1767) and Archbishop of Ravenna, Italy (1767–1781).

Saint Gregory Barbarigo (†1697) was a Venetian nobleman, diplomat, and Catholic cardinal-bishop known for his piety and reforms. Serving as bishop of Bergamo and later Padua, he implemented the Council of Trent’s directives, founding seminaries and libraries to enhance clergy education. His charitable works supported the poor, and he promoted missionary efforts. Beatified in 1761 by Pope Clement XIII and canonized in 1960 by Pope John XXIII, Barbarigo’s legacy endures in his contributions to education and pastoral care. His feast day is celebrated on June 18, and He is the patron saint of the Diocese of Bergamo and the Diocese of Padua, reflecting his significant contributions as bishop in these regions, where he focused on clergy education, seminary reform, and charitable works.
