1988 Documented reliquary theca with relic of Canadian Blessed Frédéric Janssoone, O.F.M.

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus  (of the bone) relic of Blessed Frédéric Janssoone. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. F. Janssoone (Blessed Frédéric Janssoone).  On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of the Friars Minor. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed in September 25, 1988 (the very day of his beatification) by the Postulator General of the Friars Minors responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.

Blessed Frédéric Janssoone, O.F.M., also known as Frédéric of Ghyvelde or Frédéric of Saint-Yves (†1916), was a French-born Franciscan friar and priest who worked in France, Egypt, Palestine and Quebec. He was a popular preacher who re-established the Order of Friars Minor in Canada accomplished in 1890 by the establishment of a friary in Montreal. This led to the foundation of the Province of St. Joseph in Canada, which has been closely tied with the mission in the Holy Land, due to Janssoone's role in its foundation. He has been beatified by Pope John Paul II on 25 September 1988 and his Feast Day is commemorated on 5 August.
