1820 Documented reliquary theca with relics of St. Vincent de Paul, Patron of lost articles

Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing the second-class ex habito (of the habit) relic of Saint Vincent de Paul. The relic is affixed to the red silk ground and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Vinc. a Pa Conf. (Saint Vincent de Paul, Confessor).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Father Aloisio San Vitale (†), Bishop of Piacenza. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the order of Bishop San Vitale in 1820.

Saint Vincent de Paul († 1660) was a French Roman Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor. He is a Holy Patron of charities; horses; hospitals; leprosy; lost articles; Madagascar; prisoners; Richmond, Virginia; spiritual help; Saint Vincent de Paul Societies; Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory; Vincentian Service Corps; and volunteers. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 to sanctify its members through personal service to the poor. His feast day is commemorated on 27 September.
