Reliquary theca with a relic of the Blessed Angelina of Marsciano, T.O.R.

Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing ex vestis (of the vestment) relic of the Blessed Angelina of Marsciano.  The relic is affixed to a gilt paper starburst on a ground of red-colored silk, surrounded by silver wire ornamentation, and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as S. Ex Vest. B.  Angelae. Mer. (Blessed Angelina of Marsciano). On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic Bishop.

The Blessed Angelina of Marsciano, T.O.R., (†1435) was an Italian Religious Sister and a beata of the Roman Catholic Church who founded a congregation of Religious Sisters of the Franciscan Third Order Regular, known today as the Franciscan Sisters of Blessed Angelina. She is generally credited with the founding of the Third Order Regular for women, as her religious congregation marked the establishment of the first Franciscan community of women living under the Rule of the Third Order Regular authorized by Pope Nicholas V.
