Reliquary theca with relic of St. Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene, patron of bankers & job seekers

Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing the second-class relic of St. Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene.  A substantial relic is affixed to a gilt-paper starburst on a ground of red-colored silk, surrounded by silver wire ornamentation, and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as S. Cajetani T.(St. Gaetano [dei Conti di] Thiene). On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Francesco Gaetano Incontri (†1781), the Archbishop of Florence (p. 1741-1781), Italy.

Saint Gaetano (Cajetan) dei Conti di Thiene (†1547) was an Italian Catholic priest and religious reformer, who helped found the Congregation of Theatines. Saint Cajetan was beatified in 1629 and canonized in 1671. His feast day is celebrated on August 7. He is  a patron saint of bankers; gamblers; unemployed people; workers; non-gamblers; document controllers; job seekers; Albania; Italy; Ħamrun(Malta); Argentina; Brasil; El Salvador; and Guatemala.
