1995 Documented theca with relics of St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen Martyr & Bl. Louis Flores, Martyr of Japan

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of a bone) relics of two Catholic Martyrs: Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen and Blessed Louis Flores. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedulae labels as S. Fidelis a Sigm. M. // B. Lud. Flor. M.  (Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen, Martyr // Blessed Louis Flores, Martyr) On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Dominican Order. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued in 1995 by the Postulator General of the Order.

Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen, O.F.M. Cap. (†1622) was a Capuchin friar who was a major figure in the Counter-Reformation, and was murdered by his opponents at Seewis im Prättigau, now part of Switzerland. Fidelis was canonized in 1746. His Feast day is celebrated on April 24.

Blessed Louis Flores (†1622) was a Dominican martyr of Japan. Louis was born in Antwerp, Belgium, and moved with his family to Mexico. After becoming a Dominican, he went to the Philippines mission in 1602. Captured by the Dutch while he was on a journey in 1620, he was handed over to the Japanese. He was held for two years and then burned alive in Nagasaki. He was beatified in 1867, and his feastday is commemorated on August 19.
