1730 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, OFMCap. Martyr

Oval glass-fronted brass pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex carne (of the flesh) pre-canonization relic of Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen. A substantial relic is affixed to the center of the theca surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. Fidelis // M. Capucc: (the Blessed Fidelis, Martyr & Capuccin).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Father Antonino Serafino Camarda O.P. (†1754), Bishop of Rieti, Italy (1724-1754). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the order of Monsignor de Vignoli in 1730.

Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen, O.F.M. Cap. (†1622) was a Capuchin friar who was a major figure in the Counter-Reformation, and was murdered by his opponents at Seewis im Prättigau, now part of Switzerland. Fidelis was canonized in 1746. His Feast day is celebrated o April 24.
