Saint Charbel Makhlouf, O.L.M. (†1898), also known as Saint Charbel Makhlouf or Sharbel Maklouf, was a Maronite monk and priest from Lebanon. During his life he obtained a wide reputation for holiness and he has been canonized by the Catholic Church. He is known among Lebanese Christians as the Miracle Monk of Lebanon. His followers say they call him this because of the miraculous healings they receive in answer to prayers to him, especially those said at his tomb, and for his ability to unite Christians and Muslims. His tomb is located at the Monastery of Saint Maron in Annaya. He was Beatified in 1965 and Canonized by Pope Paul VI on 9 October 1977. His feast is celebrated on 3rd Sunday in July (Maronite Calendar) and July 24 (Roman Calendar).
Documented reliquary theca with relics of Maronite St. Charbel Makhlouf, O.L.M., Miracle Monk of Lebanon
Small round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of the St. Charbel Makhlouf. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on typeset cedula label as Ex ossibus S. Charbel (from the bone of St. Charbel Makhlouf). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the of the Lebanese Maronite Order. The reliquary is accompanied by the original undated authentics document issued and signed by the Postulator General of the Lebanese Maronite Order.
