Round gilt silver reliquary theca decorated around the perimeter with filigree and housing a precious first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The relic is affixed to a red silk background and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Thomae Aq. C.D.(Saint Thomas Aquinas, Confessor & Doctor of the Church). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a perfectly-preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of CardinalClementeMicara (†), Vicar General of Rome (1951-1963) and Pro-Prefect of the Congregation of Sacred Rites responsible for Canonization of Saints (1953-1963). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and signed by Monsignor Micara in 1954.
