The relic came in. I wanted to cry. My heart was so overwhelmed with joy. On my 25th anniversary the Discalsed Monastery celebrated mass with me in their cloister. The Mother Prioress with the sisters came be a hard bound copy of his writings and his life. I feel it was the hand of Blessed Francisco was moving them. And with this holy relic he is moving me. I will do a more intensive study of him. I will place his relic in the large reliquary I have with John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and Therese of Liseaux. He will be at home.

1876 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. Philomena, Martyr

Small oval silvered brass glass-fronted reliquary housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of Saint Philomena . The relic is affixed to a gilt paper starburst on the ground of red silk surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Philum. V.M. (Saint Philomena, Virgin & Martyr ). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint with a coat of arms of Archbishop Fr. Tommaso Michele Salzano (†1890), Titular Bishop of Tanis & Auxiliary Bishop of Napoli (1854-1893). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by Monsignor Salzano in 1876.

Saint Philomena was a young consecrated virgin whose remains were discovered on May 24/25, 1802, in the Catacomb of Priscilla. The remains were translated to Mugnano del Cardinale in 1805, becoming the focus of widespread devotion; several miracles were credited to the saint's intercession, including the healing of Venerable Pauline Jaricot in 1835. Saint John Vianney attributed to her intercession the extraordinary cures others attributed to himself. In 1833, a Neapolitan nun reported that Philomena had appeared in a vision to her, and the Saint had revealed that she was a Greek princess, martyred at 13 years of age by Diocletian, who was Roman Emperor from 284 to 305. Saint Philomena is the Holy Patron of children, youth, babies, infants, priests, lost causes, sterility, virgins, Children of Mary, The Universal Living Rosary Association, Sibonga, and Cebu. Her feast day is venerated on the 11th of August.
