Reliquary theca with a relic of St. Fortunata, Martyr of Caesarea

Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing a precious first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of St. Fortunata of Caesarea, Martyr.  The relic is affixed to a ground of gold-colored silk, surrounded by silvered paper ornamentation, and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Fortunatae Mart. (St. Fortunata, Martyr.). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic Bishop.

St. Fortunata of Caesarea, Martyr (+ca. 300), Virgin Martyr from Caesarea, martyred in the persecutions of Diocletian along with her three brothers, Sts. Carphonius, Evaristus, and Priscian. Her relics have been venerated in Naples, Italy, since the eighth century. Per feast day is commemorated on 14 October.
