1993 documented theca with relic of Spanish Blessed Amalio, Martyr of Almeria

Round yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of the Blessed Brother Amalio, Martyr of Almeria. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Ossibus // B. Amalii (of the bone of the Blessed Amalio). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The reliquary is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General in 1993.

Blessed Brother Amalio (Justo Zariquiegui Mendoza) (1886 – 1936) is a Catholic Blessed and one of seven Brothers of the Christian Schools who were persecuted and martyred in Almeria, Spain, in 1936 when Bishops and Brothers alike were condemned to death without trial for the crime of professing and teaching the Catholic faith. They were Brothers Aurelio María, José Cecilio, Edmigio, Amalio, Valerio Bernardo, Teodomiro Joaquín and Evencio Ricardo. On 30 August, Brothers Edmigio, Amalio, and Valerio were taken to the outskirts of Tabernas, where they were shot in the head and their bodies thrown into a deep well. On 8 September, Brothers Evencio and Teodomiro were shot near the roadside, where their bodies were left. Brothers Aurelio and José met a similar fate on September 12, their bodies also thrown into a well. They were beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 10, 1993.
