Reliquary theca with relics of 2 Blessed: Bl. Andrea Dotti & Bl. Ranieri Rasini, patron of women in labor

Round glass-fronted gilt brass reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of two Catholic Blessed: the Blessed Andrea Dotti and the Blessed Ranieri Rasini. The relics are affixed to a red silk background and identified on manuscript cedulae labels. On the back, the theca is secured with a perfectly-preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Italian Roman Catholic Bishop.

Blessed Andrea Dotti (†1315) was an Italian Servite whose zeal manifested itself principally in preaching and penance. He filled various positions of honor in the Order and by his charity and zeal, won over to the Order a large number of hermits living at Vallucola. Many visions were vouchsafed him, and he worked a great many authenticated miracles. After long years of preaching, he retired into a hermitage and renewed his penances, and died there. He was buried in a church of his native town. Pope Pius VII authorized his cult on 29 November 1806. His feast day is September 3.

Blessed Ranieri Rasini OFM (†1304), was a Franciscan friar minor who served as his convent porter and beggar in Sansepolcro, Italy. He was known for his humility and service for the poor. Among his miracles was resurrecting two dead children, which led to his patronage of women in labor who sought protection for their new children. His Feast day is commemorated on November 1.
