The icon of the Seven Sorrows Mother of God (the Melter of Evil Hearts) depicts Theotokos with seven swords in her breast - three in the left, three in the right, and one below. It is based on the prediction of the aged Saint Simeon (Luke 2:35) that a sword would pierce the soul of Mary. This is one of the few Orthodox icons of the Theotokos which do not depict the infant Jesus. The refrain used to address it is "Rejoice, much-sorrowing Mother of God, turn our sorrows into joy and soften the hearts of evil men!" The Feast day is February 2.
