Saint Thomas Aquinas, OP (†1274) is a Catholic saint and Doctor of the Church who was an Italian Dominican friar and Roman Catholic priest, and an immensely influential philosopher, theologian and jurist in the tradition of scholasticism, within which he is also known as the "Doctor Angelicus" and "Doctor Communis". Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground decorated by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Thomae Aquin. C.D. (Saint Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Dominican Order. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed in 1991 by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the Causes of Canonization.
