The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates twelve Great Feasts, along with Pascha (Easter) and other movable feasts. These feasts commemorate significant events in the lives of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, as well as the Holy Spirit's descent at Pentecost and the Exaltation of the Cross. The feasts, along with other saints' days and fasts, form the liturgical calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church.
