Theca with relics of the Blessed Tommaso Bellacci

Back

Oval glass-fronted reliquary theca housing relics of Blessed Tommaso Bellacci. The relics are affixed to a red silk background, surrounded by paperole and twisted silver wire ornamentation and identified on a paper cedula label in as B. Thomae Bellacci (The Blessed Tommaso Bellacci). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is protected by a seal of red wax with a faint imprint of an unidentified Roman Catholic Bishop.

Blessed Tommaso Bellacci (†1447) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed member of the Third Order of Saint Francis who became a religious after turning his life around from one of sin to one of penance and servitude to God.  Bellacci traveled across the Middle East and the Italian peninsula to preach and administer to people despite not being an ordained priest. His rite of beatification was celebrated in 1771.
