Reliquary theca with relics of the Blessed Angeline Marsciano, Founder of the Franciscan Sisters

Back

Round glass-fronted reliquary theca housing relic of the Blessed Angeline Marsciano. The relic is centered on a red silk background and identified on a typographic paper cedula label as B. Angeli Ab Ac. On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a clear imprint of a coat of arms of the Franciscan order.

The Blessed Angelina of Marsciano, T.O.R., (†1435) was an Italian Religious Sister and a beata of the Roman Catholic Church who founded a congregation of Religious Sisters of the Franciscan Third Order Regular, known today as the Franciscan Sisters of Blessed Angelina. She is generally credited with the founding of the Third Order Regular for women, as her religious congregation marked the establishment of the first Franciscan community of women living under the Rule of the Third Order Regular authorized by Pope Nicholas V.
