Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Hyacintha Mariscotti, T.O.R.
Round silver glass-fronted reliquary theca dating to 1920's housing first class ex ossibus (from the bone) relics of Saint Hyacintha Mariscotti. The relics are affixed to a red silk background and identified on a typographic cedula as S. Hyacinthae V. (Saint Hyacintha, Virgin). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is protected by a seal of red wax with a hardly visible imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin sealed by Fr. Anthony M. Santarelli, Postulator General of the Order in 1920's responsible for a cause for beatification and canonization through the judicial processes required by the Roman Catholic Church.
Saint Hyacintha Mariscotti, T.O.R., (†1640) was an Italian nun of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. Hyacintha was beatified by Pope Benedict XIII in 1726, and canonized on 14 May 1807 by Pope Pius VII. Today her remains are preserved for veneration in the church of her now-defunct monastery, which today bears her name. Hyachintha's feast day is celebrated on 30 January by the Third Order of St. Francis.
