Reliquary theca with relic of the Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo O.F.M. Cap.

Back

Fancy round glass-fronted white-metal pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of the Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo.  The relic is affixed to a ground of red silk, surrounded by gilt silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as B. Innoc. a Bert. (Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo). On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Postulator General of the Order of Friars Minor.

Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo O.F.M. Cap. (†1890) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member of the Order of Friars Minor - or Capuchin branch of the Franciscan Order. He lived a life of intense abandonment, living the adage of "do good and disappear." He was deeply devoted to the Blessed Sacrament, finding his sustenance before the Tabernacle. He also had a devotion to the crucified Jesus Christ and encouraged penitents to the exercise of the Way of the Cross. Pope John XXIII beatified him on 12 November 1961 and his feastday is celebrated on 3 March.
