1993 Documented reliquary theca with relic of Carmelite St. Simon Stock

Back

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Simon Stock. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Simonis Stock, C. (Saint Simon Stock Confessor). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of the Discalced Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (commonly known as the Discalced Carmelites). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed in 1993 by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.

Saint Simon Stock (†1265) OCarm was an English Catholic priest and saint who lived in the 13th century and was an early prior of the Carmelite Order. The Blessed Virgin Mary is traditionally said to have appeared to him and given him the Brown Scapular. Popular devotion to Saint Simon Stock is usually associated with devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. His feast is commemorated on May 16.
