1991 Documented reliquary theca with relics of the Blessed Annunciata Cocchetti, patron of educators

Back

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex corpore (of the body) relic of the Blessed Annunciata Cocchetti. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. An. Cocchetti (the Blessed Annunciata Cocchetti). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a partially preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of the Discalced Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (commonly known as the Discalced Carmelites). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued on 21 April 1991 (the very day of her beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order.

Blessed Annunciata Astoria Cocchetti (†1882) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed religious and the founder of the Suore di Santa Dorotea di Cemmo - an order dedicated to the educational needs of the poor in Brescia and the surrounding cities. Cocchetti assumed her vows as a religious in 1843 and was close with Luca Passi who established a congregation similar to hers. She was beatified on 21 April 1991 by Pope John Paul II . She is the patron of her order and of educators in general.
