1989 Documented reliquary theca with relic of Blessed Maria Elisabetta Renzi, O.L.S., founder of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Blessed Maria Elisabetta Renzi. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. Elisabetta Renzi (Blessed Elisabetta Renzi). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued on 18 June 1989 (the very day of her beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization. 

Blessed Maria Elisabetta Renzi, O.L.S. (19 November 1786 – 14 August 1859) was an Italian religious sister and educator who founded the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows (Suore dell’Addolorata). Born in Saludecio, Italy, to a prosperous devout family, she felt an early vocation, entering the Augustinian nuns as a novice. Napoleonic suppression of monasteries in 1810 forced her return home. In 1824 she moved to Coriano, where she directed a school for poor girls and gradually gathered like-minded women. In 1839 the Bishop of Rimini formally established her community as a religious congregation dedicated to Christian education and the spirituality of Our Lady of Sorrows. en.wikipedia.org Renzi emphasized prayer, poverty, and service amid personal suffering, including tuberculosis.
