1988 Documented reliquary theca & medal with relics of the Blessed Pietro Bonilli, founder of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Spoleto

Back

Small round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the second-class ex indumentis  (of the clothes) relic of the Blessed Pietro Bonilli. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex indum. / B. P. Bonilli (of the clothes of the Blessed Pietro Bonilli.) On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Orders of Friars Minor (better known as the Franciscans). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the Postulator General of the Order on 24 April 1988 (the day of the beatification) and comes in the original silk-covered case of the issue containing a roundel with a portrait of the Blessed.

Blessed Pietro Bonilli (†1935) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and the founder of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Spoleto. Bonilli served as a diocesan priest for his entire life in both Trevi and Spoleto while using his order to reach out to orphans and homeless people. Pope John Paul II beatified Bonilli on 24 April 1988 and his feast day is commemorated on January 5th.
