1981 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. Luigi Scrosoppi, founder of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Cajetan of Thiene

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) pre-canonization relic of Saint Luigi Scrosoppi. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as ex ossibus // B. Al. Scrosoppi (of the bone of Blessed Luigi Scrosoppi). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (commonly known as the Passionists), The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued on 4 October 1981 (the very day of her beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization. 

Saint Luigi Scrosoppi (†1884) was an Italian Oratorian priest and founder of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Cajetan of Thiene. Born to a devout family, he was ordained in 1827 and dedicated his life to the poor, especially orphaned and abandoned girls. With his brothers (also priests), he ran an orphanage and school during times of famine and upheaval. In 1837 he founded the Sisters to educate and care for the needy; he later joined the Oratory of St. Philip Neri. He was beatified on 4 October 1981 by Pope John Paul II and canonized by him on 10 June 2001. Known for charity, trust in Providence, and love for youth, he is patron of orphans and footballers. His feast is 3 April.
